Streaky Bay is a picturesque coastal town on the Eyre Peninsula, known for its excellent fishing, great surf spots, and relaxed holiday vibe. Named in 1802 for the streaked appearance of the water caused by seaweed and sandbanks. While the township itself is connected to mains power, most properties outside the town require their own independent off grid solar system, making tailored installations essential for those building in the area.
From Plans to Power, a Tailored Off Grid Solar System
With these property owners’ newly built home and shed complete, they needed a reliable off grid solar system. Due to the property’s location, connecting to the grid would have been costly, making a standalone solar solution the ideal choice. MyEnergy worked directly from the owners’ building plans to remotely design the system and solar panel layout ahead of time, ensuring a seamless transition to off grid energy once the home was ready. By designing and installing the off grid solar system in line with the shed and house build, we were ready to power the property from day one with a seamless installation and connection to the existing generator.
Off Grid Solar System Built for the Coast
To simplify installation, MyEnergy designed and built the full off grid solar system at MyEnergy HQ in Adelaide. Tested and certified before being transported to site, it was installed quickly and efficiently, built for the coast. A vermin and weatherproof steel cabinet housing the core components was placed inside the shed, while a 13.2kW solar array of JA Solar Panels was mounted across the roof using a Schletter Roof Mount System.
The coastal setting, with its salt-laden air and changing conditions, called for a system built to withstand the elements while delivering long-term performance. The system includes a 10kVA Victron MultiPlus-II inverter, Victron SmartSolar Charge Controller, Victron Ekrano GX for monitoring, and a 5kW SMA Sunny Boy inverter. Paired with 30.72kWh of ZYC SIMPO battery storage, this off grid solar system provides dependable power from day one, with capacity to scale as needed.
