Moockra is a remote area in the Flinders Ranges outback region of South Australia. Surrounded by vast, rugged landscapes and working farming properties, it sits about 35 km northeast of Wilmington and roughly 60 km from Quorn. With the property located so far from any existing power infrastructure, securing a grid connection would have been nearly impossible and extremely costly.
Independent & Reliable Power Required
This property in Moockra, which includes a shearing shed and other agricultural operations, required an independent power supply capable of supporting the property’s day-to-day needs and managing the seasonal energy demands of shearing. With an existing generator already on site, the new power system needed to seamlessly integrate with the generator to ensure reliable backup when required.
A Tailored Remote Area Power System
MyEnergy delivered a remote area power system carefully tailored to the property owner's seasonal energy demands. The system was installed within the property's shed, with forty JA solar panels mounted on the roof using the Schletter Roof Mount System. Inside, the power system was set up on a dedicated power wall featuring Victron components, including the inverter, charge controller and Ekrano GX. ZYC SIMPO batteries were housed in a rack integrated into the power wall setup, creating a compact system. To ensure uninterrupted power, the existing on-site generator was wired into the new system with auto-start functionality, automatically kicking in if the batteries are ever depleted during periods of low solar generation, such as the darker, colder winter months.
