Glenpatrick is a quiet spot in regional Victoria, set within the scenic Pyrenees Ranges and surrounded by bush and farmland. With a population of just over 30 people, it’s a place where self-sufficiency is part of everyday life. The closest towns are Amphitheatre, located about 8 kilometres away and Avoca, around 14 kilometres to the east. Like many properties in the area, access to reliable power is essential, but connecting to the grid isn’t always practical or cost-effective.
Delivering Reliable, Future-Ready Power
These property owners were looking for a dependable remote area power system with room to grow. The design also needed to incorporate a new diesel generator for backup during extended cloudy weather or high seasonal loads. The MyEnergy team were called in to deliver a self-sufficient power solution tailored to the needs of the property.
A Ground-Mounted Remote Area Power System
MyEnergy designed and built an off-grid power system housed in a vermin and weather-proof cabinet, fully assembled, tested and certified at MyEnergy HQ in South Australia. The complete system was then transported to Victoria for final installation. A small shed on the property was removed, and the power cabinet and generator were installed on the existing concrete slab, positioned near the ground-mounted solar array.
The system includes 12.32kW of Jinko Tiger solar panels on a Clenergy ground mount, feeding into a 19.6kWh Pylontech lithium battery bank housed inside a purpose-built vermin and weather-proof cabinet. A 15kVA Victron Quattro 48/15000 inverter, paired with two Victron SmartSolar MPPTs and Cerbo GX, manages power distribution efficiently. A Welling & Crossley 9kVA diesel generator provides backup support and is fully integrated into the system for seamless operation during extended periods of low solar input or peak seasonal demand.
