Wilpoorinna Station is run by Ellen Litchfield and her partner Blake, alongside her parents. The Litchfield family arrived at Mundowdna Station in 1958 and have been farming in these remote parts of South Australia ever since. They formed the Litchfield Pastoral Company in 2016 with the addition of the Mt Lyndhurst station, which now includes Mundowdna, Wilpoorinna and Mt Lyndhurst stations.
The Litchfield family has a strong focus on sustainable farming practices, as shown by their involvement in the Ecosystem Management Understanding (EMU™) project to combat erosion and landscape degradation on their properties. They are also part of the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture, which is a scheme that ensures they meet their environmental and social goals in farming.
Their dedication to sustainability is further shown by their recent partnership with MyEnergy, to design and install a scalable off-grid system that meets the unique energy requirements of their beef and sheep farming operations.
Key Components of this Off-grid Power System:
2 x Victron Quattro 48/15000 Inverters
Victron Smartsolar MPPT Charge Controller
Victron Cerbo GX
Fronius Primo Gen24 6kw Inverters
Jinko 440w PV Modules DC Coupled
72 kWh Pylontech Battery Storage
(Integration with the existing generator)
This off-grid system designed by MyEnergy meets the Litchfield family's energy requirements, effectively supporting their beef and sheep farming operations. This scalable solution is designed to grow with the energy needs of future farmers in the family, enabling them to continue their commitment to environmentally friendly practices and maintain productive operations.
