Todmorden Station is a remote pastoral property in South Australia’s far northwest, covering over 7,000 square kilometres. Located between Oodnadatta and Marla along the iconic Oodnadatta Track, the station has been running cattle and sheep since the 1870s. Like many remote outback locations, there is no practical access to the main electricity grid, so Todmorden depends on off grid power systems to keep operations running. MyEnergy were recently out at Todmorden to upgrade the station’s main off grid power system, you can check out the first stage of the project here. This time, our team returned to design and install a new, independent off grid power solution to support the station’s latest infrastructure.
Off Grid Power for a New Shed

A newly built shed at Todmorden Station required an off grid power supply that was built to handle the extreme heat and dust of outback South Australia. With the station’s agricultural operations relying heavily on equipment and machinery, the system needed to provide consistent, independent power, without tapping into the station’s existing off grid power system.
Power Engineered for the Outback
This installation needed to take place in one of the most remote locations in South Australia, so a streamlined plan was essential. The off grid power system was designed and built off-site by MyEnergy’s award-winning electricians and tailored specifically for the shed’s operational needs. It was housed in one of our largest steel cabinets, designed to protect against extreme weather and vermin, ensuring long-term durability in harsh outback conditions. The system features 17.6kW of JA Solar panels, a Victron Quattro inverter, Victron SmartSolar MPPT, Cerbo GX monitoring, and 30.72kWh of ZYC SIMPO lithium battery storage. Built, tested and certified at MyEnergy HQ before transport, the off grid power unit arrived ready for seamless installation.
